This happened at work today:
Blah blah wrinkles a couple weeks. Once again, the Civic Si has the best gearshift in any front-wheel-Drive car I have touched this model year. If I were to get one, I’d get the 4 door because I shop in the Big and Tall section.

Can you please extrapolate why it takes weeks for the wrinkles to settle? Just curious.

Those seats look nice. They remind me of my RSX’s seats

My dad and I test drove one in the process that eventually led to him getting a used NC Miata. A seriously good little car, even if it suffers in oomph compared to its competitors.

Aftermarket leather is patterned, cut, and sewn based on a teardown of a new model’s cloth seats. Typically, it’s cut just a hair larger for ease of installation. In the shop where I do office stuff, they typically do 8-10 cars or about 18-24 rows of seats per day. There are 5 guys in the back doing the work.
To get the cars out at that rate, it has to be pretty easy to install. With that said, some kits fit better out of the gate than others. Ford F-series, Toyota trucks, the revised 18 Camry, and the 13-17 Accord fit really well, while the pre-revision Camry for 18 was a little looser around the shoulders than it ought have been.

Awesome. Thank you. My mom used to do upholstery my dad’s hot rods so I’ve always had a fascination with it.

A custom shop is always going to take more time and care to ensure a perfect fit. I work in a production shop, where we use kits sewn up in California, Mexico, or China - and sometimes Turkey. If we don’t have a pattern for it, it goes somewhere else.

Very cool - that’s a nice OE look too.
What do you guys do with the original seat covers? Are they sellable or since they’ve been removed, they can’t be reinstalled?

They could be if we didn’t cut them off. Nobody really buys them because they’re too new. If you need one let me know and I’ll save cloth for you. Email me a shipping label and I’ll get them to you. Weight is about 15 lbs.

I appreciate the offer, but I don’t need anything :). I was just curious what you guys do with the brand new OE covers.

Since most of them are made of about 4 different types of plastic (Nylon synthetic fibers, LDPE foam, HDPE matting and listings for attachment) they’re not even really recycled.
